Our Story
Sculpture Boothbay grew out of one fortuitous meeting called by Maine Stone Workers Guild members Dick Alden, Dan Ucci, Andreas von Huene and Bill Royall in late 2015. They wanted to start a stone sculpture symposium on the coast of Maine and found eager allies and sponsors to make that dream a reality.
The biennial Maine Stone Symposium is built upon the success of the Schoodic International Sculpture Symposiums, the J.C. Stone Symposiums as well as the Viles Arboretum Symposiums. It brings together Maine artists and an international guest to work in Maine granite every other summer. The first was held at the Boothbay Railway Village in August of 2017. The 2019 event was held on the Boothbay Common from July 27 - August 4.
The addition of the year-round Sculpture Trail is a result of the added support of the Boothbay Harbor Region Chamber of Commerce. Visit our beautiful harbor and charming community at any time of the year and take a walk or a drive to explore the growing sculpture trail.

Points of View
Art Auction 2019
The 2019 Points of View Art Auction was held on August 8. The event took place at Oak Point Farm, a 32-acre public preserve that also serves as Boothbay Region Land Trust’s new headquarters. The auction included the sale of sculptures created during the Maine Stone Symposium.This live auction raised more than $90,000 to support the This Land is Your Land: Campaign for Oak Point Farm.
